Viva Music Festival

Fátima Fonte - Portugal - 2023
A solution that interacts with the singer and the public in a discreet and sublime way.

About

The Música Viva Festival is a Portuguese festival that celebrates contemporary music creation. Since its first edition in 1992, the festival has been organized by Miso Music Portugal, a well-known cultural organization dedicated to contemporary music. In 2023 it celebrated its 29th edition, with a program that included 2 operas, 9 concerts 40 works and 12 absolute premieres. It took place between May 5th and 13th at O'culto da Ajuda in Lisbon, one of the most irreverent concert halls in Lisbon and brought together Portuguese and foreign musicians for a diverse experience.
Within this project, Unloop collaborated with the amazing Portuguese composer, Fátima Fonte and the talented choreographer, Joana Providência.

Concept

On the 5th, invited by the SOND'AR-TE ELECTRIC ENSEMBLE, Fátima presented a new composition, a 10-minute piece inspired by the poem "Descalça vai para a fonte" by Luís de Camões. She also found inspiration in Ana Hatherly's anagram, more precisely in the III book entitled "Leonorana".
The composer explains that behind this project is the intention to experiment with "visible music" where there is a symbiotic relationship between what is heard and what is seen.

Unloop was responsible for developing the visual concept that complemented the artists' performance, as well as its installation. The challenge was to create content that tells a story and brings together the visual components that a multidisciplinary project like this requires.

We were looking for a visual response that could be in sync with the music, the text, and the movements on stage.

We tried to convey a sense of depth to the audience.
We sought a solution that would interact with the singer and the audience in a discreet and sublime way.
